Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) ®

The Intercultural Development Inventory is a widely used and cross-culturally valid assessment for measuring the way individuals and groups experience cultural differences and similarities

Taking the IDI Can Help Organizations

IDI

Who is it for?

  • Teams and organizations who are just getting started on their DEI journey and want to understand a baseline for their team’s skills and experience.

  • Teams and organizations who have done a lot of DEI work, and are looking for individuals to receive a more personalized development strategy.

  • Teams and organizations who may not specifically have a DEI strategy or goals, but who work in an environment where they have to regularly navigate cultural differences and similarities.

How does it work?

  • We meet with your leadership team and/or DEI group to establish your goals related to intercultural competence, inclusion, equity, and belonging.

  • Each member of the team takes the 15-minute online IDI.

  • We process and reflect on the team’s group IDI results together in a 2-hour virtual session. During this session, we provide you with reports that summarize the intercultural competence of your 1) leadership team, 2) staff team and 3) other relevant stakeholder groups.

  • Each member of your team will have the opportunity to receive and discuss their individual IDI results and personalized Intercultural Development Plan (IDP) ® in a confidential 1:1 debrief session with one of our qualified coaches.

The above comprehensive IDI® process typically takes one month.

Equity & Capacity Building Workshops

Our workshops are designed to be highly interactive experiences, available both in person and virtually, offering flexibility to accommodate your team’s preferences and schedules. In small groups of no more than 25 participants, your team will have the opportunity to actively engage, practice new skills, and receive valuable feedback on your progress in real time

Equitable People Operations Consulting

In order to truly transform a team, department, or organization, you need to redesign your norms and systems for equity and inclusion.

Our team has experience establishing inclusive and equitable systems in the areas of performance management, compensation & incentives, hiring & promotions, and decision making. We know that change is hard, and so we’ll be there with you through every step from goal setting to implementation.

Engaging in People Operations Consulting can help organizations:

  • Teams and organizations with limited People/HR knowledge and resources.

How does it work?

  • We work with you to strategize which systems to assess and which stakeholders need to be involved in the process.

  • We conduct a series of interviews, focus groups, and document review in order to understand current systems and their impact on organizational equity.

  • We present our findings and recommendations to you and then work with you to begin implementing the changes. This may include things like rewriting job descriptions, creating performance management templates, helping you craft the communications to your organization, etc.

1:1 Coaching

We all have skills we can work on when it comes to becoming more effective, inclusive, and equitable leaders. Coaching is a transformative process that will help you clarify your vision and values, gain new resources and perspectives, and move into action on your goals. Coaching is typically focused on 2-3 mid to long term goals that may be related to things like building trust, improving communication, or increasing intercultural competence.

Engaging in 1:1 coaching can help individuals and organizations:

  • Increase leadership capacity for inclusion & equity
  • Improve team effectiveness, cohesion, trust, and openness
  • Increase organizational awareness and effectiveness in addressing equity issues

Who is it for?

Executives & organizational leaders who want to increase their ability to effectively lead with equity.

How does it work?

Coaching is bundled into blocks of 10 hours that can either be used for one individual with a specific leadership development goal; or can be shared among a team of leaders and used as needed

Coaching engagements typically last 3-6 months, depending on your goals. We recommend a minimum of 5 hours per leader if you’re looking for significant leadership impact.

Building Organizational Equity

Looking to transform your organization’s systems and culture for equity? We blend interactive group training, one-on-one coaching, and strategic consulting to redefine your leadership and organizational systems.

Engaging in Building Organizational Equity can help organizations

  1. Take your DEI goals and translate them into meaningful action and change.

  2. Identify the behaviors needed to build a more inclusive culture, and embed those behaviors into your team’s ways of working.

  3. Build systems for sustaining organizational culture change beyond a one-time training or shorter-term engagement.

Who is it for?

  • Teams and organizations who want to create and sustain a culture of equity & belonging long-term.

 

  • Typically organizations who work with us for these larger-scale initiatives have already worked with us on a shorter-term engagement so that we can build on the rapport and engagement we’ve already created together. This does not have to be the case, but it does make the transformation work easier.

How does it work?

  • We work with you to establish the scope & deliverables for your specific needs.
  •  
  • Depending on the outcome of this initial conversation, we will build a custom solution for you that may include elements of strategic people operations consulting, group workshops or learning experiences, one-on-one coaching, or all of the above.
  • We will work with you to establish quarterly milestones and will sit with you to check in on your progress at these intervals.

Building Organizational Equity engagements may last 6-12 months or longer, depending on your organization’s goals.
